Woolpower: Clothing for professionals with high standards

Warmth and protection from Östersund since 1972

What does a professional tree climber demand from his outdoor clothes? They should withstand extreme weather and move moisture effectively – tough, safe, warm. Woolpower makes clothes for professionals and their demands.

Since 1972 every single piece of clothing has been made in Östersund, a small town in Sweden. This is where you will find the Woolpower factory – in the midst of mountains, forests and lakes.

Woolpower is living proof, that indeed a clothing company can provide reasonable salaries, safe employment and a working environment that people enjoy being in. Ethical and environmental thinking are the core values of Woolpower. They uphold them closely through the entire value chain: from the sheep and the wool to the production to the handling with waste.

For all garments, merino wool is used: a perfect fibre to insulate against both – heat and cold.Woolpower purchases the wool from Patagonia and Uruguay. They have a constant dialogue with the suppliers, about animal treatment and the sheep farmers’ impact on the environment.

The unique Ullfrotté Original material was developed in collaboration with the Swedish military in 1972. It is made of merino wool and one-third synthetics. The result is a wear-resistant fabric with great insulation properties, that actually makes you feel warm and dry even when moist. Additionally it does not smell – even after long use.

For all garments, circular knitting machines are used for a minimal amount of seams for the best durability and comfort. At Woolpower, one seamstress is responsible for an entire garment – from the very first to the very last stitch. On the label you will find the name of the seamstress. Not only this is Woolpower’s seal of quality, but also shows, how proud every single employee is to be a part of the Woolpower family.
